Registered Children`s Home Manager EBD
Location: E7 - London
Reports to: Deputy Director/ Director
Organisational Relationships:
The Registered Manager will oversee all staff working within or from the Children`s Home as designated by the Service Manager/ Deputy Director or Director.
Role Description:
The Registered Manager will manage all aspects of running the Home, which provides short, medium, and long-term placements, ensuring young people are supported and prepared for independent living. The role involves ensuring high levels of safe emotional and physical care, appropriate activities, comfortable accommodation, and the effective application of keyworkers` services according to home procedures.
Person Specification:
Essential:
- Eligible to register with Ofsted as a manager of a children`s residential home.
- Qualified in Health and Social Care/Youth Work at Diploma/NVQ Level 4/5 or equivalent.
- Strong organisational, communication, and IT skills.
- Willingness to work flexible hours.
- Experience with Behaviour Management/Modification.
- Previous management experience in a residential setting with young people.
Desirable:
- Proven track record of achieving good outcomes for young people.
- Leadership and Management training and qualifications.
- Understanding and application of therapeutic interventions.
- Proven ability to motivate others and foster a positive work atmosphere.
Common Duties and Responsibilities:
- Quality Assurance: Set, monitor, and evaluate standards at individual, team performance, and service quality levels.
- Communication: Establish and manage team communication systems.
- Professional Practice: Ensure high standards of professional practice.
- Health and Safety: Implement and monitor Health and Safety policies.
- General Management: Provide vision and leadership, manage workload allocation, and ensure effective application of policies.
- Financial Management: Manage budgets to achieve value for money and monitor expenditure.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Achieve good results from Ofsted inspections.
- Manage, coordinate, and develop quality services for young people.
- Work in partnership with young people, their families, staff, and other agencies.
- Provide effective leadership by implementing organisational strategies.
- Promote team development and effective teamwork.
- Maximise staff effectiveness through motivation and development.
- Set and evaluate standards, and proactively improve service quality.
- Develop corporate policies and service initiatives.
- Maintain a Statement of Purpose outlining staff qualifications, experience, and expertise.
- Set and review targets and objectives for staff.
- Manage the staff team operationally and ensure appropriate resource deployment.
- Ensure back up resources are available in emergencies.
- Line manage staff, ensuring proper induction, supervision, and appraisal.
- Facilitate effective communication strategies and systems.
- Enable staff to provide continuity of care and avoid unnecessary admissions.
- Manage and develop direct services to young people.
- Implement the policies and procedures.
- Participate in recruitment, grievance, disciplinary, health and safety, and other staffing matters.
- Identify and meet staff training and development needs.
- Ensure compliance with Health and Safety Regulations.
- Manage budgets, ensuring effective financial control and administration.
- Promote and implement Equality and Diversity policies.
- Ensure staff understand and implement Child Protection Procedures.
Salary: £50,000 plus per year (negotiable depending on experience)
