We are seeking a passionate and qualified Registered Music Therapist to facilitate engaging and therapeutic music therapy sessions for young people in Barking and Dagenham. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in music therapy, particularly working with young individuals, and possess excellent interpersonal skills to effectively connect and support our participants.
Essential Skills
- Proficiency in playing a variety of musical instruments and genres.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to connect empathetically with young people.
- Strong observational and assessment skills to understand participants' emotional and developmental needs.
- Ability to create and maintain a therapeutic rapport with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
- Flexibility and adaptability to respond effectively to the changing dynamics of group therapy sessions.
- Capacity to work both independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
- Commitment to maintaining professional boundaries and confidentiality at all times.
Experience
The successful candidate must have:
- Minimum of 2 years of experience working as a Registered Music Therapist, preferably with young people.
- Demonstrated experience in designing and implementing music therapy interventions tailored to individual and group needs.
- Experience in report writing and programme evaluation.
- Familiarity with various therapeutic modalities and techniques, such as improvisation, songwriting, and music listening.
- Experience collaborating with multidisciplinary teams and communicating effectively with colleagues, parents, and external stakeholders.
- Valid Enhanced DBS certificate (preferred).
