Job description

Are you a qualified children's, learning disability, or adult nurse looking for a unique and rewarding role?

CSH are looking for a compassionate and skilled nurse to join our innovative team at Manor Mead Special School.

This position offers the chance to significantly impact the lives of pupils aged 2-11 years with severe learning disabilities and additional health needs.

As a vital member of our small nursing team, you'll work closely with educational staff to ensure that children and young people can safely attend school, regardless of their additional health needs. We value experience in working with children with special needs and a passion for fostering positive health outcomes.

Why Join Us?

  • Supportive Environment: Be part of a dedicated and highly motivated team of Specialist School Nurses/Assistant Practitioners across Surrey's 8 severe learning disability schools.
  • Professional Development: Enjoy excellent training and development opportunities, including NHS pay and pensions, fringe high-cost allowance, and access to a wide variety of management and leadership courses.
  • Values-Driven Culture: We operate with compassion, accountability, respect, and excellence. Our active employee council ensures your voice is heard at the board level.
  • Diverse and Inclusive: We welcome candidates from all backgrounds who meet the essential criteria. If you require any reasonable adjustments, our recruitment team is here to support you.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Responding to medical emergencies
  • Training educational staff in nursing procedures (e.g., gastrostomy, seizure management, ventilation)
  • Medication management
  • Attending multi-agency meetings, care planning, report writing, and nurse-led clinics
  • Participation in clinical and safeguarding supervision, auditing, and EHCP meetings

About You:

  • A clear understanding of community health services
  • Minimum of 1 year post-registration experience with children or learning disability
  • Evidence of Professional Development and participation in Clinical Audit
  • Team player, innovative, assertive, and able to work well in stressful situations
  • Car driver with a good understanding of current nursing workforce issues

Desirable:

  • Experience in tracheostomy ventilation, gastrostomy care, epilepsy
  • Mentorship preparation and management/leadership qualifications
  • Experience working in a community health setting
