The Opportunity:

Are you an experienced RVN looking for the flexibility that a Fixed Term contract can bring you?

Medivet Peterborough Bretton offers a wide range of complex diagnostic equipment and treatment options, including endoscopy and ultrasound. The team are lovely and extremely welcoming and are seeking a Veterinary Nurse to join them on a 12 Month Fixed Term Contract covering a Maternity Cover starting in July 2024. The position is part-time, covering 30 hours a week and 1:6 weekends. There are no out of hours with this position.

This multi-vet practice works to a high level, including: laparoscopic bitch spays, full dental suite including dental x-ray, high quality ultrasound including doppler and digital x-ray. In addition, the branch has a large array of surgical equipment including TPLO kit, operating microscope and full ophthalmology diagnostic tools. Our vets have a keen interest in orthopaedic surgery and have a fully equipped orthopaedic theatre.

The team is led by our knowledgeable lead veterinary surgeon Pedro who holds a BSAVA's Post Graduate Certificate in Small Animal Surgery. The vet team are supported by a head nurse, 2 registered nurses, 2 student nurses, a patient care assistant and 2 client care assistants.

Role Accountabilities:

  • Consistently deliver exceptional care to your clients.
  • Support with surgeries and procedures, completing all pre and post procedure activity.
  • Carry out nurse led appointments and schedule 3 activities.
  • Deliver patient monitoring and care.
  • Manage admissions and discharges as directed by the Veterinary team.
  • Complete patient transfers to out of hours or enhanced care.
  • Dispense and check medication.
  • Deliver professional excellence, complying with all regulatory, practice and operational standards.
  • Hold briefings to engage and co-ordinate your team to support the most effective running of the practice.

Your Skills and Experience:

  • RCVS registered Veterinary Nurse.
  • Experience of delivering exceptional patient and client care.
  • Experienced in working effectively as part of a team.
  • Experience of supporting Nurse consults, with an understanding of how this contributes to practice performance and efficiency.
  • Experienced in using coaching and influencing skills to get the best out of every colleague.
