About the role

The Regulatory Change Officer is responsible for impact assessing and communicating Regulatory Change applicable to the trading areas within the business and for overseeing the implementation of Regulatory Change to enable the business to operate within regulatory and conduct risk appetite statements and comply with all relevant regulatory requirements.

We support Hybrid working but would like a presence in either our Bournemouth or Hitchin offices (we are happy to discuss)

About You

  • Contribute to the implementation and embedding of the Regulatory Risk Management Framework by:
  • Communicating, providing insight and overseeing the timely and compliant implementation of changes in regulations and other associated regulatory requirements so that the business operates in line with its regulatory and conduct risk appetite statements.
  • Contributing, through regular research and knowledge sharing, to forward-looking thought leadership and insight communications concerning the regulatory environment, regulator thinking and strategies so that the trading areas are aware of how these might impact the long term business strategy.
  • Advising Compliance team members and the trading areas as to the appropriate interpretation and potential impacts of incoming Regulatory Change.
  • Monitoring and tracking the implementation of Regulatory Change in the trading areas ensuring they are being implemented in a timely and compliant manner.
  • Regularly reporting on the progress of Regulatory Change implementation to local management and governance committees.
  • Escalating risks to the compliant delivery of Regulatory Changes to the Compliance Manager as they arise.
  • Advising and supporting Compliance team members in overseeing business developments, including product launches, distribution initiatives and systems developments against incoming applicable regulation and legislation.
  • Contributing to oversight of business activities, so the Compliance team effectively advises the Board regarding the compliance and regulatory risks within the business.
  • Liaising with other members of Compliance to ensure a consistent approach across the business.
  • Delivering competently your personal objectives in order to meet your own and the overall objectives of the compliance function.
  • Taking responsibility for your own personal development in maintaining and developing compliance related knowledge, skills and expertise; including attending external events and seminars in order to keep well informed of the Regulatory Change landscape as required.

Key skills & experience

Required:

  • Relevant knowledge of regulatory rules and guidelines and industry practice
  • Good knowledge of the UK financial services regulatory regime
  • Good understanding of the Life & Pensions sector
  • Experience in a forward-looking regulatory/compliance policy related role, in particular identifying and advising on the impacts of Regulatory Change in the Life & Pensions sector, including horizon scanning
  • Wide knowledge of compliance procedures and processes and FCA handbook.
  • Ability to work to deadlines in a busy environment by prioritising workload
  • Ability to analyse, interpret and effectively communicate complicated regulations
  • Well-developed interpersonal, communication and analytical/analysis skills
  • Stakeholder management experience with strong influencing and presentation skills
  • Excellent report writing capability
  • Extensive research skills
  • The ability to take and provide effective feedback
  • Attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to work without close guidance/supervision

Desirable:

  • Relevant compliance or regulatory qualification desirable
