About the Service/Department

Huddleston Close provides supported accommodation for service users that require complex mental health needs support. The service has been designed as an alternative to acute mental health intervention and to prevent further institutionalisation. Running as move on services, Huddleston Close aims to facilitate the development of necessary skills and empowering adults to re-join the community independently and reduce the likelihood of future crisis.

You will be joining a successful team on a full time basis,with fantastic leadership and supportive colleagues. We offer a welcoming environment and a collaborative service. The team have won Hestia's best practice award on 3 occasions.

About the role

  • The main purpose of this role is to provide excellent quality support?and interventions to service users who are experiencing a mental health crisis.
  • Clearly articulate the aims and objectives, pathway and service model to people using the service so they can fully participate in and co-produce their support?
  • Empower service users to engage effectively in their liaisons with professionals within the community such as community mental health teams, social work teams, housing providers, health professionals, Job Centre Plus etc.?
  • Actively monitor the health, wellbeing, safety and security of the service and its users ensuring all concerns are followed up promptly and in line with procedures?
  • Participate in the core work of the service, providing support to colleagues, carrying out tasks allocated by the service manager and using initiative to identify and deal with additional tasks as they arise. ?
  • To collect rents and service charges, and manage arrears proactively by following policy, protocol and procedure to support residents to maintain their tenancy and develop independent living skills by paying service charges & rent.?
  • Ensure referrals, assessments and service reviews are effective and timely.?
  • Ensure that administration is done in good time; that detailed, concise and accurate records are created contemporaneously and that confidentiality is appropriately maintained. ?

About you

  • Experience of working with people who have people who have experienced mental health and/or dual diagnosis issues in a paid or voluntary role.
  • Willingness to work unsociable hours; Early, late, overnight (sleep-in cover) and weekend duties as part of a team rota required.
  • The means to learn quickly, gather information and make defensible decisions.
  • The ability to receive, process and accurately record detailed information, sharing it with others, as appropriate and within the framework of confidentiality.
  • The capacity to work with people who may display challenging behaviour and to defuse potentially difficult situations.
  • Having a solution focused approach and the capacity to work constructively and collaboratively towards problem solving.
  • Being optimistic about the possibility of change and the clients' capacity to change.
  • A calm, non-judgemental and anti-discriminatory approach.
  • The ability to work within a structured, busy and sometimes pressured environment.
  • Knowledge and understanding of safeguarding issues and ability to address them appropriately.
