Make every drop of your potential count. Join our team!

At Anglian Water we are working to meet tomorrow's challenges today, by planning and delivering significant infrastructure for our region to address future challenges such as securing water supply for future generations, reaching net zero, adapting to climate change and protecting and enhancing our region for generations to come.

To ensure we meet the challenges that our region faces we are planning our largest transformational investment to date, the Strategic Resource Options (SRO) Programme. The SRO Programme is focused on the design, build, finance and operation of two new multi-billion-pound water reservoir developments; the Fens Reservoir and the Lincolnshire Reservoir. The programme needs to secure planning approval for these schemes as Nationally Significant Infrastructure Projects via the Development Consent Order (DCO) route as well as establish the delivery stage procurement of future licensed regulated entities (known as Infrastructure Providers).

Our Major Infrastructure team have an exciting opportunity for a Relationship Lead (Environment) to join the team. Effective stakeholder engagement is critical to the development of the Fens and Lincolnshire Reservoirs Projects. The approach to stakeholder engagement has been defined within our Stakeholder Engagement Framework.

The Framework places significant responsibility on the Environment Team to manage the engagement with prescribed consultees, statutory undertakers and additional non-prescribed consultees who are deemed to have an interest. The Relationship Lead (Environment) is responsible for the Project Teams day-to-day engagement with these stakeholders in accordance with the Framework.

The Relationship Lead (Environment) will prepare and maintain a forward-looking Stakeholder Engagement Plan, and organise the day-to-day engagements identified within that plan. This will require working with the technical teams (e.g. the Environment, Design, and Stakeholder Teams) and an administrator to ensure the meetings are arranged in a timely and effective manner and then ensure the outputs and feedback from the meetings are actioned.

The Relationship Lead (Environment) will be a vital part of the Environmental Leadership Team and have strong stakeholder management skills as well as the good technical knowledge.

What you'll be doing:

  • Proactively work with the Project Team to establish the short, medium and long-term need for engagement

  • Support with the co-ordinating of the sequence of engagement in the run-up to critical project milestones and phases of consultation.

  • Prepare a Stakeholder Engagement Plan which can be shared with the Project Team and stakeholders to communicate the expected engagement

  • Responsible for coordinating the work of the technical teams and an administrator to ensure all engagement is well planned and the output is well managed.

  • Attend meetings with Stakeholders and represent the Project Team on environmental matters (involving other members of the Project Team as required.)

  • Identify, manage and escalate risks, issues and opportunities that arise during stakeholder engagement

As a valued employee you'll be entitled to:

  • Competitive pension scheme - Anglian Water double-matches your contributions up to 6%

  • Personal private health care

  • Annual bonus scheme

  • 26 days leave, rising with service + Bank Holidays, with the option to swap Christmas and Easter holidays for those celebrated by your religion

  • Life Cover at 8x your salary

What does it take to be successful?

  • Experience of engagement programmes for Environmental Impact Assessments

  • Proven experience and track record of successful proactive and reactive stakeholder engagement, either consultancy or in-house.

  • Experience of engagement programmes for Development Consent Order projects.

  • Experience of decision making in a high-pressure environment

  • Able to initiate and develop relationships for the delivery of a specific outcome as well as the creation of networks for future engagement.

  • Confident self-starter, able to work on own initiative, with outstanding written and presentation skills, comfortable in rooms full of strangers and unfazed at having to initiate interesting two-way conversations.
