About the role

This is an exciting opportunity to join the Supervised Contact Service as a relief Family Time Worker in Cambridgeshire. We are looking for people who are able to offer flexible availability to work, as and when required, including weekends, on a zero hours contract.

The service offers meaningful Family Time for children removed from the care of their parents, considered to be in need of protection. Family time is a deeply complex and at times problematic experience for children; whilst balanced with the need to maintain relationships with birth family, supporting these children to retain their sense of family history and identity and to create positive memories whether they are able to return to the care of their parents or not.

Interviews are planned to be held on Tuesday 23rd July 2024.
Appointment to this post will be subject to the outcome of an Enhanced disclosure with a Children's Barred List Check obtained through the Disclosure and Barring service.  The Council is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and vulnerable adults and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitmen

What will you be doing?

Our work takes place primarily within venues across the county, however some Family Time does take place within the community and some outside of the county. Family Time workers would need to be able to travel independently to facilitate this and would need to hold a full driving licence and have access to a vehicle.

Family Time workers contribute to the ongoing assessment of the family and are required to write case records of the sessions using the parenting capacity headings from the Department of Health Assessment Framework.

About you

We are seeking experienced and self-motivated people to join the team. Applicants need to have experience of working with children and be able to engage with children and parents at times of distress and heightened emotion.

The successful applicant will need excellent time management and organisational skills to manage their own workload. Excellent written and oral communication skills are essential for the role, as well as a basic level of IT literacy.
