JOB DESCRIPTION: Youth/Teens Worker
JOB OVERVIEW:
A Church based in Lewisham, UK, London UK is looking for Religious Workers; to work as youth and teen workers. The Youth/Teens Worker shall be a person whose life reflects deep faith and enthusiasm for Connecting youths/Teens to Jesus Christ.
The Youth/Teens Worker will have a desire to work with youth/Teens and their families, helping them to integrate with the Church. The church serves a multi-ethnic community.
The salary offered is £17,940 per year. Working 30 hours per week and the role will require weekend working. You may be required to work additional hours depending on our organisation’s needs.
Length of contract: Initially for 2 years.
PRIMARY ROLE:
Working alongside the lead minister in communicating the priorities of Youths and Teenagers under the vision of ZWC.
FUNCTIONS AND AUTHORITY:
The Youth/teen worker will be responsible for coordinating activities for youths, teens, and families to increase involvement with the Church and the community.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assessing the needs of Youths and Teens in the Church and community.
Planning and delivering program activities that are fun, safe, social, and educational (e.g., team building, developing self-confidence)
Develop the opportunities for Youths/Teens to grow spiritually.
Build relationships with parents and young people.
Make regular calls to active, and inactive youths, teens, and their families.
Be present at church activities to establish connections with the Youths/Teens.
Attend workshops and personal growth activities.
Communicate with parents about activity calendars, and event plans for the Youths and Teens.
Coordinate scheduled events with the church office and calendar.
Publicize Youth and Teen programs through social media, and other means.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
A personal Christian commitment and a call from God to his work.
An ability to work within and maintain professional boundaries when working with people.
Understanding and knowledge of confidentiality and safeguarding issues
A commitment and ability to work with people from diverse social and cultural backgrounds within the community.
A commitment to work in an anti-discriminatory way.
Time management skills, with the ability to work independently and within a team setting.
Stakeholder management
A proven track record of dealing with troubled youth and building effective relationships with them and their families.
A people person who can easily relate to different backgrounds and ages, church and non-church individuals.
Creative and adaptable.
A passion for working with children, young people, and families.
Able to inspire, empower, and motivate children and young people
Positive, fun, and optimistic, and have a great sense of humour and humility
Good people management skills, team building, and motivational skills
Strong knowledge and ability to speak, read, and write in English and a second language would be a plus.
Proven ministry experience in a Pentecostal Church is beneficial.
