Job description

Position: Face to Face & Remote Swahili Interpreters at SILA Linguists
Are you a skilled Swahili interpreter with a passion for breaking language barriers? SILA Linguists is recruiting experienced Swahili interpreters to join our freelance team.
Responsibilities:
• Provide accurate interpretation services between Swahili and English
• Assist in facilitating effective communication for Swahili-speaking individuals in a variety of settings, including healthcare, legal, educational, and social contexts
• Uphold professional ethics and confidentiality standards
• Maintain detailed records of assignments and adhere to client-specific guidelines
• Offer expert language interpreting services
• Comply with our rigorous Code of Conduct
• Furnish a precise, confidential, and unbiased interpreting service
• Uphold the utmost quality by adhering to all interpreting standards
• Provide exceptional customer service
• Demonstrate outstanding communication, language, and organisational abilities
• Be punctual, dependable, confident, enthusiastic, and professional
• Maintain impartiality and fairness, displaying courtesy towards clients and service users
• Demonstrate a profound understanding of the culture of both languages
Requirements:
• Proficiency in Swahili and English
• Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills
• Dedication to professionalism and confidentiality
• Flexibility and availability for freelance assignments

Qualifications and Experience (preferred):
• Minimum 2 years of Interpreting
• Community Interpreting Level 3 Certificate
• Diploma in Police Interpreting or Metropolitan Police Test
• DPSI
• Any other qualifications related to Interpreting or Translation
• Bachelor’s or Masters degree in Languages, Translation, Interpretation or Linguistics
• Ph.D. or Doctoral in Linguistics
• Certificate of Higher Education in Translation, Interpretation, Languages, Philology or Linguistics
