Job description

We are delighted to be working with a multi-award-winning relocation and storage company based in West London. They carry out over 1000 London domestic and commercial moves a year, from 1 bed flats to mansions. This also extends to complex business relocations and business storage services school removals and office removals and shipping.

They are now seeking a Warehouse Assistant Manager to join their expanding and friendly team. The main purpose of the role is the supervise the day-to-day warehouse and operations activities.

You will report directly to the Removals & Warehouse Manager to assist them with directing the crew, fleet, and yard management.

The role will include a combination of warehousing and administration, therefore experience within both is required. A valid forklift license will also be beneficial.

This is a full-time position, Monday - Friday, 8am - 5pm.

General Responsibilities:

Warehousing

  • Directs and carries out warehousing activities (e.g., ordering, receiving, and unloading shipments, processing records, preparing, and distributing reports and other documentation, establishing and coordinating policies).
  • Verifies price, quantity, and item numbers for received items and customer goods.
  • Records and maintains receiving and inventory data in computer database.
  • Coordinates with truck drivers and dispatchers, explaining distribution policies and procedures for deliveries and shipments.
  • Coordinates with vendors to ensure that correct products are ordered and delivered. Assists with resolution of quantity, pricing and quality issues and discrepancies.
  • Coordinates with staff and general crews, explaining distribution policies and procedures for unloading and loading containers, raw materials, and other tools.
  • Assists with inventory control and resolves inventory discrepancies.
  • Assists with preparation and checking of reports, schedules, invoices, forms, and other required warehouse documentation.
  • Ensure compliance with all workplace Health and Safety policies and procedures.
  • Overseeing warehouse activities during the morning dispatch of all crews incl. yard.
  • Support in fleet control (vehicles loaded correctly, raw material usage, vehicle presentation etc.)

Operations:

  • Assists in managing road crews of General Move Division and Small Move Division.
  • Assists in overseeing the morning dispatch of all crews incl. yard control.
  • Assists in briefing and debriefing crews.
  • Updates and coordinates day to day crew planning administration incl. invoicing and PO generation.
  • Fleet management control (daily check sheets, cleaning and loading for next day etc.).
  • Presenting, and on approval, implementing efficiency and service improvement measures.
  • Supervise the mentoring, development, performance, training, and quality of the crew employees.
  • Ensure compliance with all workplace Health and Safety policies and procedures.
  • Work with the HR team to manage absence and performance related issues in line with policies and to ensure absence documentation is completed correctly and punctually.
  • Assists Removal Manager with annual BAR and H&S audit process.

Minimum Requirements:

  • High School diploma or equivalent required, some college-level coursework preferred.
  • Experience related to the above tasks, knowledge, skills and abilities or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Forklift Certification.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Ability to read, write and perform basic mathematical calculations.
  • Thorough knowledge of warehousing policies and practices.
  • Ability to comprehend verbal and written instructions.
  • Ability to operate computer and district programming.
  • Management, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to operate forklifts and pallet jacks.
  • Ability to use or repair small, medium, and heavy equipment and machinery.
  • Ability to prepare purchase orders.
  • Ability to manage inventory and property.
  • Ability to make budget recommendations.

Physical Demands:

  • Heavy work: Exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force regularly to move objects.
