Your new company
An emerging renewable energy company, focused on creating and providing cost-effective and eco-friendly energy solutions and systems for the Northern Ireland market, is actively seeking a Renewables Project Engineer to become a part of their team.
Your new role
The primary function of this role is to act as the solar thermal systems specialist within the business and provide technical oversight of the installation of projects. The ideal candidate will have good experience of solar thermal systems and their operation, with either an engineering or trade background.
The role will be office, site and home-based.
Duties and Responsibilities

  • Oversee the integration of solar products into heating systems at customer sites and pilot projects
  • Monitor and collect data on the performance of integrated systems
  • Specify appropriate hardware and controls to work alongside the panels
  • Contribute to the development of monitoring and control systems
  • Maintain safe site practices through risk assessments and good site management activities
  • Create installation procedures and manuals alongside the team for future networks of installers
  • Assist with relationship management of partners and customers. This may include representing the company at customer visits, reporting on performance, etc.

What you'll need to succeed
Essential

  • 3+ years' experience of working with solar thermal installations
  • Strong knowledge of heating system installations, standards and operation, and their integration with solar thermal products
  • Ability to build professional relationships with clients to generate confidence and deliver successful outcomes

Desirable

  • Demonstrable knowledge of control systems and sensors used in heating
  • Knowledge of data collection methodologies for performance analysis
  • A relevant and recognised professional qualification
  • Experience of solar thermal design software such as TSol, Polysun, TRNSYS or similar
  • A strong ability to communicate effectively
  • An ability to produce concise reports
  • Knowledge and experience of installation of other renewable heating systems such as heat pumps
  • Proven attention to detail, accurate and methodical in work to overcome challenges and see projects through to completion
