ABOUT THE ROLE

We have an exciting opportunity for a Repairs Specialist to join us in our London store! As a key ambassador for our Lived & Loved program, you will be responsible for repairing Finisterre clothing and hardware, contributing to our circularity initiatives. This role requires a self-motivated individual who thrives in autonomy and possesses a passion for craftsmanship.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Technical

  • The capability to assess an item for repair and stabilize the issues.
  • An expertise in darning. Competent application of zip replacements and repair/patching of technical garments. The ability to deconstruct and reconstruct items.
  • Skilful use of industrial flatbed sewing machine, knowledge of relevant sewing attachments and when to use in accordance with fabrics and hardware.
  • Competent knowledge of hardware fixings and how to select correctly for repair required.
  • Ensuring repairs are carried out to an exceptional standard. Attention to detail is imperative.

Customer Experience

  • Ensuring excellent customer service communication with each customer interaction.
  • Meeting and greeting our repair customers in store. To be enthusiastic and knowledgeable about why we repair, how we repair, the history of Finisterre repair and communicating this with our customers, in line with the Lived & Lived Brand Standards.
  • Understanding customer needs and responding in a timely and efficient manner by phone, email or in person.

Workshop Coordination

  • To look after the workshop in line with Lived and Loved department standards.
  • Liaising with Head of Repair responding to urgent needs for smooth running of London Repair Workshop.
  • Ensuring all machinery is kept in good working order. To inform Head of Repair of any issues.
  • Liaising with HQ Repairs to ensure fabric library is kept seasonally stocked. Supplemented by ordering any hard to acquire fabrics from list of approved online fabric stores.
  • Ordering of all hardware and liaising with Repairs HQ to ensure stock is replenished.
  • Liaising with HQ Repairs weekly to relay any issues, improvements, moments.

Requirements

WHAT YOU’LL BRING TO FINISTERRE

  • A passion and a competence of garment repair
  • Ability to work independently and to deadlines.
  • Trained and experienced in the use of industry level sewing machinery.
  • Proven experience and application of technical hand darning techniques both visible and invisible.
  • Proven experience in hand sewing, machine sewing, repairing, deconstruction and reconstruction of garments in woven and technical fabrics.
  • Experience and competence of all types of zip replacements, including Aquaguard.
  • Competent in using stock systems, previous experience of Shopify desirable.
  • Excellent customer service, both written and verbal. Experience communicating with customers in retail setting an advantage.
  • A strong commitment to learning about the key skills, deliverables and challenges of Lived & Loved Repairs, and to delivering continuous improvement.
  • A willingness to own and drive your personal development plan and open to asking for and accepting feedback on performance. Thrives on positive change.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team.

This role will require a level of flexible availability, and will be required to work some weekends.

Important: The successful candidate must, by the start of their employment, have permission to work in the UK. Please note that Finisterre are not licensed to sponsor overseas workers.

We are offering a part time, 22.5 hours, permanent contract, based at our London store. We’ll invest in you with a competitive hourly rate of £13.40.
