Applications are sought for a key practitioner role within the Wellbeing Pillar of Student and Campus Life to support the Senior Manager for Safeguarding and work alongside the Student Wellbeing Service Manager.

The main focus of the role will be to respond to reports submitted through the University’s student reporting platform about student wellbeing and safeguarding concerns which can include domestic abuse, sexual violence, hate incidents, bullying, and harassment.

The role will require regular meetings with students to discuss their reports, support available and safety planning with them. You will also work extensively with other Wellbeing Teams within the university and external agencies were required and will provide advice and Support to support and academic staff about student wellbeing concerns.

We are seeking an enthusiastic, progressive, and committed individual to help shape our service in supporting students who may be at risk.

Report and Support is the University’s agreed platform for students and staff to raise concerns about risks to students. You will be required to triage the reports, prioritising response to these according to risk on a daily basis. You will be provided with support and regular supervision by the Senior Manager for Safeguarding but will also be required to work autonomously and to make decisions based on risk assessment and experience of this type of work will be required.

Demonstrable knowledge and experience of safeguarding including statutory responsibilities as well as wider safeguarding risks impacting on students is required. You will also need to be able to support students to recognise and challenge discrimination and oppression.

Candidates must have strong interpersonal and communication skills as well as strong networking skills and the ability to build positive relationships with staff across the institution and with external partner agencies to ensure that stakeholder expectations are met. Please note, a Satisfactory Enhanced disclosure obtained from the Disclosure and Barring Service is required for this role.

This position is offered on a permanent basis. Hours are full time (36.25 hrs per week) which will usually involve a minimum of 4 days per week on campus with one day a week home working. Job share arrangements may be considered.
