Research And Development Associate

Duties: The purpose of the Research Associate is to support Weed Control Research Biology on the SPS (Secondary Profiling Screen) platform by spraying and maintaining, plants in the glasshouse in order to deliver timely, quality data to herbicide research projects
The job holder will work in the Trialling Operations team within Technical Support - Weed Control and will be required to spray and maintain herbicide bioassays in the glasshouse, using established and novel weed screening methods producing biology data to enable project decisions.
Skills:

• Requires knowledge and understanding of plant biology. While also able to take general care and maintenance of a range of different plants.
• Be able to work independently, with a strong sense of detail orientation.
• Proactive in identifying problems and assists in solving them
• Excellent Communication skills and team player - you will be working within a small team who liaises with different colleagues and customers.
• Agility in learning new tasks, self-starter who is flexible to new ideas and ways of working
• Good self-motivating, self-managing and time management skill sets

Education:

• BSc Degree or A levels plus experience in a related field preferred
• General knowledge of plant biology; ideally also with knowledge of weed control and some agronomy.
• Entry level knowledge of laboratory techniques
• Use of Microsoft office programs
• Good analytical, organisational, and people skills.
