The opportunity
As the Research and Innovation Support Officer, you will play a crucial role in the organization and coordination of R&I events, ensuring their success from planning to execution. This includes providing advice, preparing risk assessments, managing promotional material, overseeing venue arrangements, handling delegate registration, and executing post-event communications. Your attention to detail and proactive approach will be essential in creating impactful events that showcase the university's Research and Innovation initiatives.
You will be the driving force behind maintaining R&I operations, managing the Inventory, Data Asset Register, and driving licence records. Your responsibilities will extend to health and safety, where you will arrange meetings, update staff on relevant matters, conduct workplace inspections, and ensure compliance with regulations. Your role will be pivotal in supporting various ad-hoc R&I departmental projects, requiring project planning, budgeting, stakeholder liaison, and compliance with university procedures. You will also service and take minutes for various Research and Innovation groups and sub-committees. Your commitment to maintaining an organized system of records and files will support the effective administration of externally funded projects.
Financial administration is a key aspect of this role, involving the utilization of Cardiff Met financial systems, raising invoices and purchase orders, and overseeing office procurement. Your expertise will ensure the end-of-year reconciliation of all Research & Innovation Services budgets and the adherence to credit control procedures as well as ensuring accurate records for audit purposes.
In collaboration with the RIS Engagement Officer, you will contribute to the development, production, and distribution of bilingual news and information through various channels. This includes supporting the maintenance of the RIS website, social media pages, and participation in marketing initiatives in both English and Welsh.
