Research Assistant In Clinical Trial Design And Data Analysis

We are seeking a Research Assistant to assist in the Design and coordination of a Clinical Trial of a novel microparticle formulation as a means of delivering targeted therapy to patients suffering from or at risk of developing bone infection.   The trial is part of a collaboration between the Nuffield Department of Orthopaedics, Rheumatology and Musculoskeletal Science and the Department of Engineering Science.   In this role you will liaise with clinical staff on the design of the trial, its implementation, data collection and analysis, as well as draft the trial protocol, ethics application, patient information sheet and other relevant documents. You will be expected to Design and implement the data collection and analysis framework, whilst undertaking supporting laboratory work on microparticle characterisation. You will assist clinical staff in the conduct of the trial through provision of materials, questionnaires, and answering any technical questions from patients. Additionally, you will manage your own research and administrative activities, within guidelines provided by senior colleagues whilst contributing to wider project planning, including ideas for new research projects. You will be responsible for general laboratory management and administration, including stock control of laboratory consumables.   You must hold a relevant first degree together with relevant experience of designing and conducting a Clinical Trial. It is essential that you possess sufficient specialist knowledge in medical engineering to work within the research programmes, as well as an ability to manage your own academic research and associated activities. It is expected that you will have previous experience of contributing to publications/presentations and an ability to contribute ideas for new research projects and research income generation. Experience of interdisciplinary collaboration and relevant laboratory work are desired but not essential.
