Job description

Fixed Term Contract until 31st December 2024 Research Assistant (if close to completing PhD) £34,450 per annum Research Fellow (if PhD obtained) £37,337 per annum Location: Cranfield, Bedfordshire We welcome applications from passionate researchers with skills in Crop physiology and plant biochemistry who enjoy working with growers, technologists and entrepreneurs. About the Role To carry out research and communications related to a Defra-funded Farming Futures project “Increasing yield in UK protected cropping by altering light quality”. The project will evaluate innovative new greenhouse coating technology for its effect on plant growth and development and on postharvest quality for selected horticultural crops. The technology alters light spectrum to affect photosynthesis and growth responses using novel chemistry.   About You You will be educated to doctoral level in some aspect of crop or plant science (or close to completion) and will have experience of running plant growth and/or postharvest storage trials. Ideally you will have experience in analytical biochemistry.
