School of Cancer Sciences Salary: Grade 6/7, £32,332 - £36,024/£39,347 - £44,263 per annum We have an exciting opportunity for a Research Assistant/Associate to contribute/make a leading contribution to the CRUK-funded programme “Reconstructing the Evolution of Mesothelioma for Improved Treatment”, working under the mentorship of Professor Daniel J. Murphy within the REMIT and PREDICT-Meso research consortium. Mesothelioma is a devastating cancer of the chest cavity that arises decades after occupational exposures to asbestos. The Murphy lab excels is using GM mouse models for mechanistic investigation of tumour biology and cancer development. This project will apply a range of state-of-the-art methodologies to a temporal dissection of in vivo cancer evolution, from incipient pre-cancerous lesions through to development of malignancy, to identify tumour cell dependencies that can be exploited for clinical translation and improved treatment of Mesothelioma patients. The successful candidate will work as part of an international team and will be expected to contribute to the formulation and submission of research publications and research proposals as well as to help manage and direct this complex and challenging project as opportunities allow.
