Closing Date: 28 January 2024

The Role

Are you ready to drive innovation at the intersection of biology and computing? The Interdisciplinary Computing and Complex Biosystems (ICOS) Research Group within the School of Computing are seeking a dedicated Research Assistant / Associate (Experimentalist) in DNA Data Storage Systems to contribute to our cutting-edge EnDROIDS project.

You'll be the driving force behind the advancement of DNA Data Storage Systems. You'll take charge of designing, executing, and analysing experimental systems for DNA-based Data Storage in both controlled environments and living organisms. This exciting opportunity involves pioneering methods to revolutionise Data Storage and retrieval using DNA as a storage medium, merging principles of synthetic biology and computing science.

You'll collaborate closely with fellow investigators and research groups, refining protocols for in vivo information storage. Your responsibilities will encompass supporting and training academic, technical, and research colleagues on specific experimental techniques, ensuring meticulous records of all laboratory procedures, and contributing to the dissemination of findings in scientific journals and to project stakeholders.

We are committed to building and maintaining a fair and inclusive working environment and we would be happy to discuss arrangements for flexible and/or blended working.

The appointment is fixed-term, tenable for 36 months in the first instance. The position is available on a full-time basis (37 hours per week).

To apply, please complete an online application and upload a CV and cover letter. Your cover letter is a supporting statement, and you should outline how you meet the essential criteria of the role and evidence this with examples.
