Job description
We are seeking a brilliant post-doctoral researcher to help pioneer research in Energy market and regulations areas, as part of the EPSRC-funded grant: Supergen Energy Networks Hub. Supergen Energy Networks Hub carries out highly impactful interdisciplinary research so that energy networks are not just enablers of the low carbon transition but are a driving force towards a rapid, safe and just transition to net zero. Market and Regulation is one key theme of Supergen’s research scope. Market and regulatory instruments are needed to ensure that new energy technologies can be quickly integrated into Energy Systems and to maximise their benefits to energy customers and networks. However, existing arrangements for energy networks were designed for centralised, single-vector systems with limited cross-vector interactions and flexibility sharing. These legacy arrangements are a key barrier to technology integration, cross-vector resource utilisation, and coordination in network planning. This work proposes to design a holistic commercial framework for promoting cross-vector network services and recovering network costs. A whole-system framework will be developed to extend traditional services based on costs and quantities and encompass provider responsiveness. We have a position available to join the team at the University of Bath; ideally someone with a relevant PhD in electrical power engineering. You will join a dynamic team of power engineers working at the University of Bath and collaborate with partner universities and organisations across the UK.
