Job description

This is an opportunity to engage in a short-term research post focusing on placement experience in the beautiful South-West of England.
Based in the Faculty of Health, the School of Nursing and Midwifery programmes in the fields of adult, child and mental health nursing and in midwifery have been designed with our students’ career and the future needs of the workforce in mind. The School works in partnership with local NHS trusts to drive forward clinical research and support students in their learning to become the best nurses and midwives they can be.
InterCity Place is the first-class new home for our healthcare teaching and research providing students with skills to meet the needs of 21st century careers. The School offers a unique interdisciplinary learning environment, where students from the largest breadth of healthcare disciplines in the South West can benefit from state-of-the-art facilities and equipment, maximising their potential, developing core skills, and preparing them to embark on exciting and rewarding careers. The School offers further support for student career and professional development in the areas of healthcare, surgical care practice, emergency care and general practice nursing.
An interdisciplinary approach to research covers sustainability, the evolution of services, use of new genetic knowledge and technologies, the ageing population, use of internet and mobile technologies, changes in clinical education, contemporary nursing, and how knowledge is translated into practice and policy.
The purpose of this post is to complete an important NHSE funded research project in a very tight time-frame. Recent academic or research experience together with a deep understanding of practice requirements for programmes leading to nursing registration is essential.
You will:
• have held an academic or research post in the past year

• be a registrant with the Nursing and Midwifery Council
• have a sound understanding of the context of practice placements, particularly in the private, voluntary and independent sector
• have the ability to work autonomously, demonstrating the full range of research skills required to complete this body of work within a tight time-frame
• have a proven publication profile
Please demonstrate how you meet the essential criteria outlined in the knowledge, qualifications, training and experience elements of the job description in your supporting statement.
For an informal discussion to find out more about the role then please contact Dr Margaret Fisher by email mfisher@plymouth.ac.uk or by telephone on 07815 527989.
Interviews are likely to take place on Thursday 28th March and you will be notified if you have been shortlisted or not.
This is a part-time position working 14.8 hours per week (0.4 FTE, flexible days) on a fixed-term basis until 31st July 2024 due to funding.
We offer a competitive salary package and a generous pension and holiday scheme. We also offer a range of other benefits, including ongoing development opportunities. A summary of our comprehensive benefits can be viewed here.
The Faculty of Health holds two Silver and two Bronze Athena Swan Awards, which recognises commitment to supporting gender equality within higher education.
