Job description

The Department of Computer Science and Technology is an academic department within the University of Cambridge that encompasses Computer Science, along with many aspects of engineering, technology and mathematics. Applications are invited for a Research Grants Coordinator to join the finance and research grant team to assist in the provision of Research Grants and departmental finance services. Reporting to the Senior Research Grants Coordinator, the role holder will be expected to provide a high level of support in the day-to-day completion of Research Grant applications throughout the whole grant life cycle.  This will involve working closely with grant holders, funders, both internal and external departments and institutions and industrial partners.  You will have previous Research Grants administration and accounts experience as well as knowledge of financial reporting, analysis and forecasting. The role holder will act as first point of contact for all grant related queries, give advice and guidance to staff wishing to submit proposals for research funding, track progress of all awarded grants, investigate and resolve spending anomalies, and advise on any potential under/overspend and how to mitigate the issues that may arise within the finance system.  The ideal candidate will be an experienced user of the Microsoft Office Suite.  They will have high levels of accuracy, be well organized and methodical with a high attention to detail and have excellent communication skills.  Total integrity is essential as the job holder is in a privileged position regarding knowledge of and access to confidential and sensitive information. Candidates should be educated to at least HND/HNC level or equivalent including Maths and English.  Accounting training to the level of AAT or equivalent experience is desirable.  Competence with CUFS (the University Finance System) and X5 (the current University grant budgeting system, which will be updated in 2024 to Worktribe) or similar budgeting/finance systems is desirable, however, if needed, the necessary training can be given. The successful candidate will possess the ability to work on their own or effectively as part of a team.
