Research Scientist:
The Research Scientist will co-ordinate and evaluate the monitoring and analysis of Biogen’s operational plants. You will lead the
development, execution, dissemination and evaluation of research and development. You will develop reports, presentations or
scientific papers for internal and external distribution & assist the Research Manager in developing and delivering training to
colleagues on biological, sampling and research issues.
The role is based at the Westwood Research facility and will be engaged in research work, practical analysis, desk-based analysis,
and travel to operational sites to undertake plant monitoring and operational support.
Research Scientist Requirements:
Reporting to the Research Manager, you will be responsible for the coordination, evaluation, and optimization of monitoring and
analysis activities across Biogen's operational plants. Your expertise will be critical in ensuring data-driven decision-making
and continuous improvement.
Additionally, you will lead the development, execution, dissemination, and assessment of research and development projects.
Contribute to the advancement of scientific knowledge by crafting comprehensive reports, presentations, and potential scientific
publications for internal and external stakeholders.
Furthermore, you will collaborate with the Research Manager to design and deliver impactful training for colleagues on biological,
sampling & research issues
It is important to ensure high standards of H&S are maintained within the laboratory. Identify and highlight issues to the
relevant Manager and work with them to correct any issues. The role will contribute towards regular audits, SHEQ checks and
inspections.

Job type: Full Time, permanent, 40 hours per week, with occasional weekend work
Salary: £32,500 - £36,000 per annum dependant on experience

This application is for a vacancy with Biogen UK Ltd, a leading food waste & organics recycling company. The role will be based on
an operational Anaerobic Digestion site & will include regular handling of food waste, crops, wastes & digested materials. It is
NOT for Biogen IDEC (biotechnology & pharmaceuticals).
