Job description

MRC Laboratory of Molecular Biology, Cambridge, UK We are looking to recruit a Research Support Officer to join a Wellcome Trust Funded project at the MRC Laboratory of Molecular Biology (LMB). The post holder will work for Dr Alia dos Santos, hosted by the group of Dr Matteo Allegretti, to investigate how the nuclear envelope is repaired in eukaryotic cells.  Specifically, the post holder will support aseptic mammalian cell culture, health and contamination checks of cells lines, transfections, and creation of stable cell lines. The post holder will also use biochemistry and molecular biology methods, and assist with sample preparation, under the supervision of Dr dos Santos, for both optical microscopy and for cryo-electron tomography.  This is an exciting opportunity for the postholder to learn a number of specialist techniques and appropriate training and supervision will be provided.  Applicants must have a BSc in Life Sciences, Biochemistry, or related subject. Candidates must also have at least one year of lab experience. An MSc in a related subject is highly desirable.
