We have an exciting opportunity to join Thames Water as a Reservoir Engineer. Working closely with the Reservoir Safety Team and Production Managers, you will set annual inspection programmes and manage supply chain partners to carry out remedial repairs identified. You will be accountable for all aspects of the inspection and any remedial works arising from the point of reservoir or cell isolation through to refill and hand back to Production Operations for return to supply.
What you’ll be doing as a Reservoir Engineer:
  • You will plan and agree on workable multi-year outage programmes in your area with relevant stakeholders and ensure these are captured in the wider outage plans, ensuring compliance with statutory and internal targets.
  • You will manage or assist in enabling works such as valving, network contingencies, drainage flows, permits to work, level equipment, alarm changes, Environment Agency and trade effluent discharge consents, network operating strategies, PRV services and installations and contingency planning.
  • You will plan for the availability of both internal and external resources to ensure the successful delivery of the programme.
  • Arrange and attend internal and external inspections of cells with field technicians, water quality scientists, supply chain partners and panel engineers, producing a resultant scope of work.
  • You will obtain quotes, raise risks, apply for funding, raise orders and verify receipting, tracking and reporting on financial performance against the plan. Negotiate best value with supply chain partners through the application of framework agreement mechanisms.
  • Manage a programme of works, contactor costs, quality assurance, and asset information updates along with health & safety auditing.
  • Produce periodic key valve programme, agreed with Production management and planning teams, and track progress, escalating any issues and managing any repairs required.
 
We have two positions available. Locations are negotiable across Thames Valley and London. This role is working 36 hours per week Monday-Friday.
 
What you should bring to the role as a Reservoir Engineer:
  • Experience in minor civils project delivery in a regulated industry and or experience in operational clean water treatment processes.
  • Managing indirect teams to achieve outcomes.
  • Ability to manage multiple stakeholders.
  • Working knowledge of roles, duties, and requirements under CDM. (2015)
  • Working knowledge and awareness of health and safety.
  • Working knowledge of bespoke systems such as Sphera, APS, PTW, Safeguard, and SCADA would be beneficial, but training will be provided.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft suite packages.
  • Travel between sites means a full valid UK driving licence is required.
  • Please note that these roles will require working at height and working in confined spaces. (full training will be provided)
