Job description

Seven Resourcing are currently seeking a Residential Care Officer to work within the Children services for Huddersfield Council. This is a full time position of 37 hours a week, and we are paying £17.42 per hour for this role. 

The role:

The Council currently has three four bed mainstream homes and two eight-bedded disability homes based in the Huddersfield and Dewsbury areas. The mainstream homes accommodate young people with emotional and behavioural difficulties between the ages of twelve and eighteen. There is one long-term disability home and a short breaks unit; both homes accommodate children between the ages of seven and eighteen.

Key Responsibilities:

  • RCCOs are responsible for ensuring the physical, emotional, and social well-being of children and young people under their care. This involves meeting their basic needs such as food, clothing, and shelter, as well as providing emotional support and guidance.
  • RCCOs must create a safe and nurturing environment where children and young people feel secure and protected. This includes ensuring that the residential facility meets all safety standards and regulations.
  • RCCOs work with other professionals, such as social workers and psychologists, to develop individual care plans for each child or young person. These plans outline the specific needs and goals for the individual and provide a framework for their care.
  • RCCOs oversee and participate in the daily activities of the children and young people in their care. This may include helping with homework, organizing recreational activities, and facilitating social interactions.
  • RCCOs are responsible for maintaining accurate and up-to-date records of each child or young person's progress, including their health, education, and any significant events or milestones.
  • RCCOs work closely with other professionals involved in the care of the children and young people, such as social workers, teachers, and healthcare professionals. They participate in team meetings and collaborate to ensure that the needs of the children are being met effectively.

Applicant Requirements:

  • Qualifications: GCSEs A-C or equivalent including at least English and Maths. Need Moving and Handling Training. 

    Educated to A Level standard or equivalent experience

  • Experience: 2+ years working within a similar role. 
  • Compliance: Current Standard DBS check. 
  • Travel: Clean UK driving license with the ability to commute to and from work independently.
  • Hours: 37 hours p/w.
