Residential Support Workers (term-time only)
Two weekly rolling rota - Monday to Friday
Week 1: Monday to Thursday 14:00 - 22:00
Week 2: Monday to Friday 21:30 - 09:30
Actual salary £22,550 to £24,276 / Hourly Rate £12.93 to £13.92 (pay award pending)
40 hours per week, school term-time only
This role is split between afternoon/evening shifts and waking night shifts on a 2 weekly rolling rota.
We are seeking to appoint exceptional people to join our expanding team at The Glen - our residential provision at Glenwood Residential Special School.
Our school exists to make a transformational difference to the quality of life and future prospects of each individual young person through recognition and nurturing the unique contribution they make.
The Glen is an educational residential setting with space to support up to 20 Glenwood School learners who live with a range of complex needs including severe, profound and multiple learning difficulties, medical needs and autism. (Number of learners placed is staff dependent. The home is never left at an unsafe ratio of staff to young people).
The primary purpose of a residential placement at Glenwood School is to provide an early intervention that brings about change in the young person's life at home by helping them learn new ways of sharing; spaces, attention, resources and control alongside the acquisition of new skills, all of which can be generalised in different settings.
We strive to provide opportunities for learning that impact on their whole life so that they can enjoy and have positive experiences beyond school whilst exploring the challenges faced by them and their families.
We are looking for caring, kind and fun people who have experience of supporting young people with complex needs, who can work flexibly over a 24-hour period Monday - Friday and strive to make a positive difference in the lives of the young people we are so privileged to support. The role is varied and will include some personal care and housekeeping tasks such as cooking, cleaning and laundry. As well as this, the aim is to provide the young people with support throughout their evenings and mornings helping them to become more independent and helping to break difficult habits, working closely with their families to support this development. Our staff participate in ongoing training and development to allow them to offer the best possible care to our young people.

- Successful applicants will be supported to complete a mandatory Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare where they do not already have such qualification.
