Are you an experienced Registered Manager looking to take the next step in your career?


New Forest Care is looking for an experienced professional to join our team of Responsible Individuals. Responsible Individuals hold a key leadership role, they are responsible for supervising the service management and ensuring the quality of the services provided. The Children’s Home Quality Standards are clear in their intention to directly link the leadership requirements and the level of quality in a service. New Forest Care Ltd looks after children who are of either sex and between the ages of 5 and 18 years. They will have suffered severe early life trauma which has left them angry, let down and distrustful of adults. Their behaviour is typically displayed through anti-social and challenging behaviours, and this may include violence and aggression towards others (including staff).


Required Skills and Qualifications:


  • Must hold Diploma 5 or equivalent.
  • To be available to complete senior cover duties and DSL duties.
  • Must be able to drive.
  • Must demonstrate confidence when dealing with people and a good understanding of the care system and legislation regarding children’s homes and looking after children in general.
  • Successful experience as a Registered Manager in a residential children’s home.
  • Understanding of legislation relevant to the profession.
  • Good general standards of education and academic ability.
  • Must have Diploma 5 in Care or equivalent.
  • Good communication skills both verbal and written are essential.

Key responsibilities / main activities:


  • To manage and supervise a number of Managers.
  • To work alongside the manager in monitoring the development of staff, identifying training needs.
  • To attend Responsible Individual meetings to highlight any concerns that maybe affecting the operational running of the company or affecting a team, staff members, young person’s development.
  • To ensure that the head of care, directors and the HR manager are informed and updated of any health issues that may prevent them from undertaking their duties or affect the performance of their duties.
  • Meet, greet, and train new staff in induction week.
  • To chair managers meetings when needed.
  • To constantly look at rotas, find cover when needed.
  • To maintain staff and Children’s confidentiality.
  • To provide regular supervision for designated staff.
  • To ensure that our admission process is adhered to and children have access to relevant information, including complaints procedure.
  • Ensure that the managers obtain and disseminate as appropriate, relevant background information on children admitted to the home.
  • To communicate with Ofsted when required and attend feedback sessions after inspections.
  • Ensure that admissions including transitions and discharges are managed properly.
  • Maintain a child orientated system of care, which will provide all children with the opportunity to make responsible choices about themselves.
  • To be responsible for the overall welfare and development of all children and staff.
  • To provide a caring, supportive and enabling environment where children can learn and develop to their full potential.
  • To provide individual packages of care.
  • To demonstrate an understanding and awareness of adolescent behaviour, ethnic, gender and sexuality issues, in relation to the children in care.

Annual Salary is dependent on the number of homes:

  • Less than 3 homes = £50,000 - £58,000
  • More than 3 homes = £58,000 - £68,000

The company is unable to sponsor employment of international workers in this role. You will be required to provide evidence of your right to work in the UK.
