Restoration Technician Apprenticeship

Our Restoration Technicians are key within our network operations, working to restore any interruptions to water supplies and deploy alternative means of supply so that our customers can continue to receive the highest water quality standards.
Here at Anglian Water, we are recruiting for potential and are looking for enthusiastic talent to join our Water Services team as a Restoration Technician Apprentice. In this 24-month apprenticeship, you'll undergo a comprehensive training program, blending classroom study and on-the-job training, with the ultimate goal of becoming a fully qualified Restoration Technician.

Your journey: You will embark on an adventure of both classroom education and hands-on experience – all whilst getting paid for it! You’ll receive training and learning about the development, installation and maintenance of water treatment programmes for water systems; working towards a nationally recognised Water Treatment Technician apprenticeship. Your journey will be guided by experienced Technicians, to ensure you acquire the practical skills needed for success.
Your role as a Restoration Technician Apprentice: You’ll be part of the responsibility to restore water supplies when there has been an interruption to customers water (such as a burst water main). No two days are the same in this varied role, as you’ll deal with both planned and reactive work, using engineering techniques such as tankering, overland supplies, line stopping, emergency pumps and generators to bring our customers back on water. All whilst maintaining the highest water quality standards both in and out of hours. You will be the front-line point of contact with our customers and the public, acting as company ambassadors for Anglian Water, so a passion for customer service is crucial!
What’s unique about this Apprenticeship is that you will go through LGV licence so you can drive our large tankers of water! Upon being fully qualified, this role operates on a 24/7 standby basis, highlighting the vital nature of your contribution.
To be successful as an Anglian Water Apprentice you will require:
- 5 GCSE’s including Maths and English Grade A-C or 9-4 (if you have not completed your GCSE’s we will accept predicted grades. We also accept Level 2 Functional Skills)
- Willingness to work outdoors in all weathers
- An enthusiastic nature, a willingness to learn & team spirit
- A passion for practical work, the great outdoors and exceptional customer service
As well as the above, you will need a full UK driving licence. If you do not currently have this, you are required to hold a full UK driving licence prior to the completion of year 2 of the training programme. You will also need to live within the circumference of the area that the role will cover.
Please note as part of this apprenticeship, you will be required to attain your LGV licence (supported by Anglian Water) and will be subject to a medical fitness test to make sure you are safe to operate this machinery.

If you meet the requirements, you will be asked to complete five screening questions to find out more about you and your motivations for applying, and an online behavioural assessment for us to learn more about your values and behaviours. If successful, you will be invited to attend an in-person assessment centre in Huntingdon on Thursday 21st March 2024.
