GARDEN MANAGER (DEPARMENT MANAGER)

Our client is a prestigous Garden Centre business with sites around the UK, they now require a Manager for their site in Bicester

The roles involves : -

Driving profit is always paramount and there Garden Department Managers are empowered to run their departments with a real sense of ownership.

The role is a hands-on role where you will be responsible for maintaining high levels of customer service and be meticulous to detail in terms of product placement, standards and presentation. You should be able to work on your own initiative, have a flexible approach as well as having a good eye for detail.

As a Garden Department Manager, you will be responsible for managing and leading your team, so that our customers have a truly unique and memorable shopping experience. We pride ourselves on giving our customers the very best product knowledge, quality and choice, and creating an aspirational shopping experience through stunning visual displays. Your focus will always be on the customer and meeting their expectations, but you will also have responsibility for driving sales and profitability – so you will have a real sense of ownership and empowerment.

About You

Our ideal Garden Department Manager will:

  • Have experience of working in Garden Centres, although we are open to talking to candidates with previous retail management experience from any horticultural or retail background
  • Have an energetic personality and ability to engage and connect with our AB1 target customers and lead all our customers to products that are most appropriate for their requirements increasing add-on sales
  • Have a creative and entrepreneurial attitude towards retailing
  • Have a good knowledge of gardening
  • Be able to recognise and act on sales opportunities
  • Be meticulous to detail in terms of product placement, standards, presentation, visual elevation and overall look and feel
  • Be an inspirational leader for centre staff ensuring they receive clear direction and performance management within a culture of coaching and mentoring
  • Be able to use reports in order to improve performance
  • Ensure stock availability and manage stock from entry to exit within the centre
  • Positive and strong communicator and a skilled motivational people manager
  • Be able to use an Epos system

You must have industry expereince or retail product knowledge

Able to manage a team
