Job Description:
JHS (Also known as "J&H Local") is currently searching for Retail Sales Associates' to join us in our Sunderland SR3 1EL store. The successful applicant will receive a competitive hourly wage, working a Part Time pattern of 8-12 hours over 2/3 days, additional hours may be available as overtime as and when available.

Our Retail Sales Associates are very important as ultimately they are the face of the business, they are JHS to our customers, as they serve many thousands of customers each week.

Responsibilities:
Our Retail Sales Associates care for the products they sell; rotation is key, handling deliveries with real care and ensuring our customers leave with products that are in perfect condition. Making our customers feel welcome, working in a store that is the friendliest place to work and shop, doing whatever it takes to ensure all our customers have a great shopping trip and having service at the checkouts that is legendary! All of our Retail Sales Associates participate in keeping our stores in great shape, a clean and tidy store for our customers to enjoy.

  • Assist the Store Supervisor / Assistant Store Manager and Store Manager with all areas of store operations
  • Operate the checkouts and handle cash
  • Make sure our shelves are well-stocked at all times
  • Carry out regular freshness checks to ensure we offer the freshest produce
  • Unpack daily stock deliveries
  • Rotate stock
  • Ensure the store is clean, both on the shop floor and behind the scenes
  • Keep the store clear and ensure any potential hazards are dealt with quickly and efficiently
  • Help with merchandising stock and preparing for promotions and special offers

Who has access to data?
Your information may be shared internally for the purposes of the recruitment exercise. This includes members of the HR and recruitment team, interviewers involved in the recruitment process, managers in the business area with a vacancy and IT staff if access to the data is necessary for the performance of their roles. We will not share your data with third parties, unless your application for employment is successful and we make you an offer of employment. We will then share your data with former employers to obtain references for you, employment background check providers to obtain necessary background checks.

How does JHS protect data?
We take the security of your data seriously. We have internal policies and controls in place to ensure that your data is not lost, accidentally destroyed, misused or disclosed, and is not accessed except by our employees in the proper performance of their duties.

For how long does JHS keep data?
If your application for employment is unsuccessful, the organisation will hold your data on file for 6 (six) months after the end of the relevant recruitment process. At the end of that period, or once you withdraw your consent, your data is deleted or destroyed. If your application for employment is successful, personal data gathered during the recruitment process will be transferred to your Human Resources file (electronic and paper based) and retained during your employment. The periods for which your data will be held will be provided to you in a new privacy notice.

Your rights as a data subject, you have a number of rights:

access and obtain a copy of your data on request;

require the organisation to change incorrect or incomplete data;
