Retail Sales Associate – Luxury Furniture & Homeware

Full time permanent position. Tuesday to Saturday 9am – 5.30pm, with some flexibility required for key events like seasonal changeovers and stock takes.

Based in Stockbridge, Edinburgh. Travel may be required for client visits or buying trips.

Immediate start. Salary dependent on experience.

Driven by the high of a satisfied customer, you are here to sell, and the showroom is your stage. You will be a sales driven star player, with the motivation to exceed expectation (and targets).

Day to day, you will be;

• Driving sales in the showroom and converting leads

Alongside stock items, we offer a highly personalised retail service, which includes sourcing, ordering bespoke furniture and soft furnishings. You will be in the epicentre, effortlessly matchmaking high quality products with their perfect home. As well as footfall in store, you will be in regular communication with our loyal client base and new faces via phone and email, referring leads to the design services where appropriate.

• Delivering first class customer service.

You are the friendly face, our Front of House. From a passerby seeking inspiration to a large-scale bespoke furniture order, you will ensure a memorable, joyful and efficient experience for all clients from the moment they walk through the door to the delivery of their new purchases, with strong after sales support and swift complaint resolution when required. Aspirational, inspirational yet accessible, these are friendly and welcoming spaces free from snooty vibes or pretence.

• Maintaining the showroom standards and assisting with regular display changeovers.

Ensuring the showroom is always immaculate and visual merchandising standards are maintained. You will be topping up diffusers and flipping reeds, plumping cushions, and are not scared to get the hoover out (especially at Christmas, glitter anyone?).

• Promotion, Networking and Events

You will work with the retail manager and directors to grow our network and seek new customers. This will include taking an active role in delivering our calendar of in store events to promote the Jeffreys brand, build our reputation and generate leads.

This role requires;

• A passion for what we do and a love of beautiful things. You probably have a lot of interiors magazines beautifully styled on your coffee table.
• A genuine and gentle approach to sales. No BS or pushy techniques here, you provide knowledgeable and honest recommendations, with client satisfaction at the top of the agenda.
• Product knowledge and experience in Luxury Furniture and homewares. You need to know your Porta Romana from your Julian Chichester and are comfortable with the complexities of bespoke upholstery orders and customisation. Ideally you have direct experience with the products and brands we sell or can demonstrate the capacity and thirst to learn quickly.
• A proactive, motivated self starter that can initiate, communicate, and execute plans and prioritise workloads.

· A highly organised person with excellent administrative skills, accuracy, and attention to detail.

· Confidence with computers and digital communication, Microsoft Office 365 and Outlook, CRM tools and EPOS systems, preferably Vend and Zettle. As well as using the till system in store, you will need to create sales orders, raise invoices, and make sure balances have been paid. Knowledge of Esti PC would be beneficial, but training can be given.

• Fluidity and flexibility. Specialising in one-offs means no two orders are the same, products are different sizes and shapes, delivery terms vary and your key piece might be stuck at customs. You are ten steps ahead, solutions orientated, resourceful and can think on your feet to find the simplest route from A to B.
• A collaborate team spirit with excellent communication skills. You will work closely with the directors, retail team, designers, purchasing, warehouse and install to reach shared goals.
• A bright spark with ambition and enthusiasm to continuously grow and improve our services.
• Last but not least, a love for dogs. We are in Stockbridge, four legged friends reign supreme. Bonus, puppy cuddles on the regular from shop dog Inca.

This is not an interior design position, however due to the range of products we source and sell, it could suit someone with experience or qualifications in interior design that would prefer to work within a retail environment, selling wallpaper, fabrics, furniture, lighting, and bespoke upholstery.
