Job Summary

The Supervisor supports the Store Management team in the customer facing aspects of
running the store managing and motivating the sales team, delivering sales, managing
livestock, achieving KPI s and providing outstanding customer service. You report directly to
the management team.

Key Responsibilities:

Store Operations

In the absence of the management team, ensure that staff are at the store a minimum of 15 minutes before it is due to open and be ready to trade at the specified time
Work with the store team to maintain store standards: The working day does not end until the store is in a presentable condition for the next day s trading, the tills are cashed up and all end of day procedures are complete
To receive goods and to check them off thoroughly as authorised.
To assist in keeping staff facilities tidy.
To report any security risks or suspicious activities (customer or staff) to the Management team.
To undertake tasks as required by the Management team.

Customer service

Ensure that all customers are acknowledged when they enter the store
Ensure that all customers are engaged with a friendly open-ended approach within a reasonable amount of time or when displaying buying signals
Deal with customer complaints in a professional manner and resolve where possible without escalation
Deliver outstanding customer service by promoting a pro-active, helpful and friendly attitude among the staff
You are expected to lead by example at all times

Merchandising & standards

You are required to work with the management team to maintain excellent standards of presentation and cleanliness in the shop at all times in line with the store layout sheet.
Work with the store manager to ensure the store is merchandised in accordance with planograms and merchandising guidelines. Stock is not to be moved outside of plan unless specifically approved by your line manager
Stock on the shelves should be replenished, dusted and tidied throughout the day
If the stock levels look incorrect after stock checking, you should report any under or overstock to the store management teamShelf label prices must be checked daily. All windows, displays and cabinets must be maintained daily and all items must have correct POS and be priced
In the absence of the management team, you are responsible for ensuring all back of house areas, storeroom, staff facilities, livestock and isolation rooms are clean and well ordered

Livestock responsibilities

It is your responsibility to ensure all livestock is managed and cared for in line with our animal welfare policy and to report any issues to the store manager
Ensure that cleaning and upkeep of all animals is to the highest standard
To identify and isolate any sick animal and seek immediate veterinary care if required
To ensure records are kept of all animals supplied and sold
To advise customers when they purchase a pet and provide a free leaflet on its care
To assist these customers in the purchase of pet housing and accessories.
To check the health of animals supplied twice daily, and ensure that a nominated member of staff does this in your absence
Ensure that visual inspections are conducted on all livestock at designated times throughout the day
To report any health problems to the Manager
To control the amount of materials used for shop animals
To hold regular training sessions with Staff to ensure that they follow the correct procedures when dealing with livestock

Security

Maintain a high-level of security awareness at all times and ensure staff are vigilant
Ensure that the team adhere to company loss prevention procedures at all times

Health and Safety

Health and safety is there for your own protection and for the safety of your staff and customers. It must therefore be adhered to at all times, in line with the Health and safety manual.
Support the management team in ensuring that all staff are correctly inducted and made aware of the company s Health and Safety procedures
You must ensure all colleagues and customers adhere to these procedures

Flexibility
In order to maintain the smooth running of the shop at all times, a degree of flexibility is required in the role
