Job description

Pembrokeshire College is currently seeking to appoint a number of motivated and inspiring individuals to work with a wide team of Coaches and other Support staff, using positive behaviour strategies to specifically focus on the attendance and retention of learners across the College.

Salary Details: BS22-25 - currently £25,554 - £27,670 pro rata

This is a 4 point incremental scale with progression to each point on an annual basis. Commencing salaries will be assessed in accordance with the College’s starting salaries matrix.

Hours of Work: Full time - 37 hours per week

Worked over 38 weeks (which are the College’s term weeks from September to June) plus 2 additional admin weeks

Contract Type: Salaried term time only - Fixed term to 31 August 2025

This annualised hours contract will be paid in equal amounts of 12 months (September to August) and the appropriate element of payment for accrued annual leave for the duration of the contract will be incorporated into the calculation. Please note, monthly payments will vary in the first year worked subject to the date of commencement)

Qualifications/Experience;

  • You will hold a minimum relevant level 3 qualification and;
  • It is essential to have experience of working with learners in a similar role or with learners/young people on a one-to-one basis.
  • Knowledge of PSHE (Personal, Social and Health Education) or similar programmes would be advantageous.

Addressing poor learner attendance, punctuality, motivation and overall attitude to learning is critical to the achievement of their qualifications and ultimate progression. In this role you would use attendance data to monitor absence, identify absence patterns, and apply early intervention strategies to ensure attendance is maximised. Working directly with teaching and other faculty staff you would also positively address poor punctuality and motivation, identifying barriers to learning and signposting to appropriate colleagues and external professionals.

You will be self-motivated, enthusiastic and comfortable working both independently and as part of a team. You will also possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills and have the proven ability to motivate individuals towards achieving agreed goals.

This role will predominately be based at the College’s main campus at Merlins Bridge, Haverfordwest but there may be times when occasional working from home is possible in agreement with individual line mangers.

Bydd yr contract oriau blynyddol yma yn cael ei dal mewn symiau hafal o 12 mis (Medi i Awst) a bydd elfen priodol o daliad am wyliau blynyddol daw am hyd y contract yn cael ei gynnwys yn y cyfrifo. Nodwch os gwelwch yn dda, bydd taliadau misol yn amrywio yn y flwyddyn cyntaf yn ôl dyddiad cychwyn.

Bydd y rôl yn bennaf wedi leoli ar brif gampws y Coleg ym Mhont Madlen, Hwlffordd ond bydd adegau lle bydd gweithio o adref yn bosib mewn cytundeb gyda rheolwyr llinell unigol.

Bydd teithio o bryd i’w gilydd i leoliadau eraill gan gynnwys Llwynhelyg a Fferm Folly yn angenrheidiol i gefnogi dysgwyr y Coleg ar ddarpariaeth gofal anifeiliaid. Felly, mae’n hanfodol bod gyda chi’r gallu i drafnidiaeth gan fod teithio aml i’r safleoedd yma yn hollbwysig i’r swydd.
