Leven packaging plant opened in 1973 and is a highly efficient and flexible packaging operation, which can respond quickly to changing demands and opportunities.

Leven packages over 48 million cases of spirits per year), and employs a workforce of around 1,100 people, including around 800 Diageo staff, plus contractors working full time on site, with an additional 100 temporary staff at peak times.

Leven exports to: Western Europe, North America, Russia & Eastern Europe, Global Travel & Middle East, North Asia, Southeast Asia, PUB (Paraguay, Uruguay and Brazil), Australasia and West LAC (Latin Caribbean).

About the role

Reporting to the Governance Manager, the role will have about 11 direct reports. The purpose of the role is to protect People, Brands, and Reputation at our Leven Packaging site.

Main Accountabilities:

  • Driving risk, security, CARM and Customs and Excise agenda without compromising the sites required production levels
  • Provision of risk management, security and C&E support, enabling site to run and control the risks faced to an acceptable level, via audit, policies, risk assessment, work instruction/procedures, training, management plans etc.
  • Motivating change and consistency in current/existing practices & ways of working within the risk remit.
  • Actively work to mitigate business and security risks.
  • Responsible for all site risk/security plans (On site crisis and emergency plan, off site emergency response plan, BCP, BIA’s, security plan etc.
  • Run crisis response procedures and requirements for site.
  • Risk-related training & writing, planning, delivery and documenting of live/table top exercises.
  • Known consignor/air cargo site security representative / ensuring known consignor status to continue with fast-tracked air cargo consignments.
  • Assist in co-ordination of all SAP system outages on site to ensure minimal disruption to production
  • CARM management for Leven Packaging.
  • Actively chip in to the Man Ex ITF programme across site striving for world-class, manufacturing excellence.
  • Handle internal audit programme.
  • Handle customs and Excise responsibilities to allow us to operate as a duty suspended warehouse.
  • Ensured compliance with COMAH Regs.
  • With the sites, achieving satisfactory audit ratings for all the major audits across the company including GAR.
  • Handle Willis (insurance advisors/brokers) requirements for site.
  • Work closely with Fife resilience group to run multi-agency response and learning.

To be successful in this role, you need:

  • Industrial experience in a governance-related field with exposure to Safety Management and Environmental Management.
  • A degree or equivalent experience in EHS-related subject area (essential but not mandatory)
    Understanding of the application of compliance tools and techniques. Management of non-conformances.
  • Understanding of UK Health, Safety, Environmental HMRC and food safety legislation.
    Strong analytical, problem-solving, and auditing skills.
  • To be able to challenge and influence peers and seniors across the business objectively and constructively.
