Road services are accepting applications for a suitably experienced road operative to help us deliver various exciting projects utilising a modern fleet of vehicles and plant.
Ideal candidate will have significant experience in surfacing, drainage, plant operation, line painting or winter maintenance and will have the ability to undertake these tasks as a lead operative. Midlothian Council has made vast investment in new plant to include Gully vehicles, line truck and a pothole pro on top of existing in-house surfacing operation.
Successful candidate will also have the opportunity to partake in overtime and on call operations, which is coupled with a generous pension employer contribution.
Jobholders must also hold the SVQ level 2 in Road Building or equivalent experience and be willing to obtain a NRSWA operators’ qualification., along with at least 3 year’s post qualification experience in the road maintenance industry to carry out a variety of tasks and be conversant in the safe operation of a number of items of plant associated to the tasks.
The jobholder will be required to understand processes and interpret technical plans and site drawings. They will also be required to take site measures to allow the accurate ordering of materials and equipment.
The jobholder will have sufficient proven experience
Essential
SVQ level 2 in Road Building or equivalent
HGV / LGV driving license
Desirable
Plant Operator Certificates
Health and Safety Certificates (IOSH working safely or equivalent)
SVQ level 2 in Winter Maintenance
