Job description

The University of Cambridge is recognised globally as a renowned centre for research, education and scholarship. We employ more than 12,500 staff in a range of academic, research and professional services roles, all of whom play a key role in maintaining and enhancing our world leading reputation. Our people are our greatest asset, and it is critical to our continued success that we create the right conditions for our people to thrive at Cambridge.

Our Human Resources (HR) Division supports the University to deliver its goals of excellence in education, learning and research via the recruitment, retention, reward, recognition and development activities of our staff.

The Role: We have an excellent opportunity to join our busy Grading Team as a Role Analyst. The Grading Team sits within the HR Division, and undertakes Job Evaluation for all new roles put forward for grading, or existing roles submitted for regrading, within the University using the HERA grading system. The Role Analyst will be a key part of this process by undertaking the formal review of roles. In addition the role plays an important part in supporting Departments and HR staff by providing expert advice on areas of pay.

About you: You will have a detailed understanding of Job Evaluation process, ideally through experience of working with HERA but this could be with other Job Evaluation schemes. Additionally to this you will have the ability to work on your own initiative, priorities work, maintain accuracy, confidentiality and work to tight deadlines.

This is a full time position.

For full information regarding the role and its responsibilities, please see the Further Information document attached.

Once an offer of employment has been accepted, the successful candidate will be required to undergo a basic disclosure (criminal records check) check and a security check.

Benefits of working at Cambridge University include:

  • Competitive rates of pay with automatic service-related pay progression and annual cost of living increases
  • Generous annual leave allowance of 41 days paid leave (including bank holidays)
  • Travel benefits and retail discounts at over 2,000 local and national stores

The University of Cambridge is committed to supporting our staff to thrive both professionally and personally. We aim to support a good work/life balance, whilst retaining the positive aspects of our unique in-person environment and culture. Elements of this role are suitable for hybrid working, where staff can split their time between in-person collaboration and remote working. The frequency of the remote elements of the role can be discussed with the recruiting manager.
