Do you have experience in Youth Work or safeguarding? This role might be for you!

About Police Collaboration Wales and the Citizens in Policing Team

  • We are a committed team who work across projects in police forces in Wales to aid the delivery of collaboration. These projects include areas such as sustainability, digital, forensics, Citizens in Policing and more!
  • The Citizens in Policing Programme is a small programme delivering across South Wales, North Wales, Gwent & Dyfed-Powys Police to enhance the experience for children, young people and adults involved in volunteering. This includes cadet programmes, youth engagement and the special constabularies.
  • We mainly work either from an office near Bridgend or from home.
  • We work 9-5 Monday-Friday though do sometimes support activity on the weekend.

About the role and your key responsibilities:

  • The post holder will develop a framework for safeguarding children and young people who voluntarily engage with the police, aligned to the national Safe to Operate standards.
  • New documentation, including guidance, will be developed for colleagues involved at an operational level and Designated Responsible Officers for safeguarding.
  • Leading change and achieving high standards will be key.
  • Updating of project documents such as risk registers, lesson logs and benefit trackers.

What skills and experience do we need you to bring to the role:

We are looking for someone who has significant experience within a Youth Work setting or role which required safeguarding. Exceptional organisational and communication skills with a high level of self-motivation and enthusiasm to make a difference are important. You will work with colleagues across policing and partner agencies, with occasional travel outside of South Wales.

The role is considered as exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 due to the likely close contact with young people on a regular basis and the position of trust you will be placed in.
