Safer Staffing Matron

The aim of this new role is to strategically lead the safe and sustainable staffing agenda across Elysium working closely with the Group Director of Nursing, Associate Directors of Nursing and Operational Directors and other key stakeholders.

Some of your key responsibilities will be identifying and reviewing the best available evidence on safe, sustainable staffing; to be multi-disciplinary in approach to staffing; to be outcomes focused; and to develop these staffing resources with the appropriate experts, focus groups and other key stakeholder groups, including patients, families and carers.

What you will be doing:

• Leading on compliance and implementation of the national guidance and recommendations from NHSE workforce safeguards and NQB guidance
• Leading on the deployment of the most relevant Staffing Tool through training and quality assessment
• Supporting and advising Hospital Directors, Operational Directors and other Senior Leaders with annual establishment reviews
• Supporting and advising Director of Nursing, Operational Directors and other Senior Leaders with regards to staffing during exceptional circumstance, including the use of Nursing Contingency plans.

What you will have:

• NMC Registration
• The post holder will hold qualifications at level 7 (master’s) or demonstrate the equivalent knowledge and skills within relevant fields such as clinical leadership and Project Management
• Relevant experience of working in a similar healthcare environment.
• Management Qualification or evidence of training in management processes and other HR issues
• Evidence of Continuous Professional Development relevant to this role
• Comprehensive understanding of clinical risk and quality governance principles and their application
• Manage competing priorities, problem solving and delivering within tight timescales
• Knowledge and understanding of the application of Safer Staffing Tools
• The ability to be innovative, creative, contribute and manage transformational projects involving Safer Staffing
• Experience of analysing highly complex data and presenting quality data while making recommendations to relevant stakeholders
• Adhering to the 2016 National Quality Board Guidance Safe, Sustainable and Productive Staffing and NHS Improvements (2018), Developing Workforce Safeguards Standards.
