What the role will involve
The responsibilities of your role will include the following:
- Supporting delivery of safe systems through the production of safety cases, hazard logs, and relevant safety documentation.
- Producing Safety Engineering analysis to support safety cases, including both quantitative and qualitative techniques for analysing failures of both software and hardware.
- Providing knowledge of safety regulations and standards to project teams.
- Deriving safety requirements and perform requirements gap analysis. Including how the requirements will be assessed for verification and validation, and provide justification where required.
- Carrying out safety assurance activities, such as document reviews and audits.
- Consider a wide range of non-safety factors, such as specification, budget, and schedule while meeting required safety requirements.
- Taking decisions on assigned responsibilities and also providing input and recommendations to management for improvements on ways of working.
- Interaction with customers and stakeholders to deliver work in line with schedule.
What you’ll bring
The role of Safety Engineer requires the following experience and skills:
- Minimum of 2 – 3 years’ prior related experience as a Safety Engineer
- Experience in safety and reliability analyses to support physical and functional hazard assessments, risk reduction, determination of safety requirements and design safety justification
- Excellent planning, communications (including client-handling), organisational and co-ordination skills
- Excellent IT skills (Microsoft Office, DOORS, safety and reliability databases / tools)
- Understanding of safety controls to ensure safety is inherent in design, an appreciation of human factors, environmental hazards, quality, requirements management, test and acceptance processes.
