Organon is hiring a Safety & Environment Specialist to join our world class manufacturing site in Cramlington, Northumberland. In this role, you will provide Safety & Environmental advice and support across all departments at site level.

The role involves maintaining the practical application of the company safety and environmental management standards integrating the relevant UK legal requirements.  Essentially self-directing the successful candidate should be able to generate their own workloads and priorities.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Maintain registers of EHS legislation, current knowledge of the legislative requirements and Company standards. 
  • Ensure site systems and procedures deliver compliance with UK legislation and Company EHS standards and guidelines.
  • Co-ordination of internal and external resources as required to deliver an effective EHS efficient support service.
  • Development, definition and monitoring of EHS metrics based on site and Company requirements to drive the organisations safety continual improvement processes.
  • Undertake/support operational risk assessments of various types as required and maintain oversight of the risk assessment framework.
  • Monitor compliance with the application of risk control measures including site PPE policies and approved specifications.
  • Compilation, interpretation and delivery of accident/incident statistics. Examination of trends and determination of remedial measures.
  • Participation on project teams to ensure appropriate level of EHS support during design/planning/installation/ construction as part of management of change process.

Required Education, Experience, & Skills:

  • Relevant qualifications and experience in EHS management (Minimum NEBOSH Certificate level, Diploma level preferred, graduate/post-graduate degree level Science/Engineering qualification ideally)
  • Membership in a Professional Institute eg IOSH, IEMA, IRM (Affiliate or Practitioner).  
  • Relevant technical and operational knowledge. (Pharma sector experience preferred).
  • Strong team working approach and well-developed interpersonal skills.
  • Clear communicator both written and verbal.
  • Ability to respond to changing priorities.
