Job description

We are looking for a Safety, Health, Environment & Quality (‘SHEQ’) Advisor to join our busy team.
As SHEQ Advisor you will partner with our repairs and maintenance business unit to support and embed the health, safety and welfare of our team and stakeholders.
You will carry out programmed regular inspections on responsive maintenance and notifiable CDM works and be responsible for resolving a range of health and safety related issues on a variety of projects (mainly residential, but occasionally commercial projects too). You will report to the Head of SHEQ and work collaboratively with a SHEQ team that supports the whole business through managing procedures, liaising with management and clients and producing written reports and follow ups as necessary. There is also scope to be involved in ad hoc projects, process review and improvement implementation.
The right candidate will be passionate about prioritising a H&S focussed approach and ideally have experience in the property repairs and maintenance field, with particular focus on residential responsive repairs projects. Experience of social housing would be a bonus.

About you:

NEBOSH General Certificate or NEBOSH Construction Certificate and TechIOSH as minimum
Prior Health and Safety advisory level experience
Good knowledge of facilities management sector, covering both hard and soft services.
Proven experience in role that specialised in safety management systems.
Good working knowledge and application of health & safety standards and quality systems to manage health & safety to ISO 45001 standard and environmental standards (ISO 14001) and Quality Management System (ISO 9001).
Track record of successful change management projects in construction.
The role will require some travel within the borough, as such as a full, clean UK driving licence required
Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills (both verbal and written), with the ability to persuade, influence and confidently present to others.
