Job description

At Adecco, we currently have an excellent opportunity for a Permanent, On site Safety, Quality and Environment Coordinator for our clients based in Witham, Essex.

The Company

Our client is the UK's largest steel recycling company. Producing products such as steel reinforcing bars, wire rods, and merchant bars. Their steel products are used in a lot of construction and engineering projects. Our client focuses on the production of low-emission circular steel; to try and produce steel in the most sustainable way for our environment.

About the role

  • This is a permanent position
  • Salary £28,000pa - £30,000 pa
  • Working hours: Monday to Friday 8am-5pm totalling 40 hours per week

Mission

Implement the organisation's Safety, Quality and Environmental policy and procedures so that all employees have a safe and healthy working environment and the organisation complies with all current and future regulations including certifications and accreditation's.

Accountabilities

  • Conduct SQE audits and on-site inspections to identify workplace hazards and unsafe equipment, working practices or working conditions
  • Liaise with senior management and operational users in conducting safety tours
  • Ensure PPE is being worn correctly at all times
  • Ensure pre user checks are completed by machine operators
  • Enquire Actively retrieve and answer SQE queries on site
  • Investigate all non-compliance SQE issues
  • Maintain relevant SQE systems and reports on performance
  • Attend review meetings with Senior SQE advisor as required

Ensure the depot meets standards of compliance

  • Support the completion of permit to work forms for all external contractors
  • Complete site tours for visitors and external contractors
  • Induct all new employees, visitors and external contractors
  • Ensure SQE documentation is stored electronically
  • Contribute to on site internal and external audit process
  • Ensure that first aid supplies and resources are available in accordance with regulations and the organisation's health and safety policies
  • Participate during legal proceeding when claims of potential compliance breaches arise
  • Ensure site complies with relevant laws, regulations, certifications, accreditation's and company standards.

Recommend changes to working processes and conditions to ensure that all employees, visitors and external contractors have a safe and healthy working environment

  • Analyse the severity of hazards and prioritise the remedial actions required to correct
  • Analyse standard operating procedures and risk assessments to ensure they meet current legislation, updating when necessary
  • Engage maintenance and/ or contractors to correct non-compliance
  • Research appropriate external providers to supply corrective work for non-compliance issues
  • Liaise with senior management to communicate costings and forecasts

Maintain and analyse compliance records

  • Ensure the completion of first aid reporting
  • Ensure actions are completed and signed off in ProSafety
  • Review all accidents, agree outcomes and complete any remedial actions required for compliance Record investigation data within appropriate databases
  • Gather traceability documentation for electronic storage
  • Coordinate the distribution and calibration of measuring equipment
  • Retain and store calibration certification
  • Coordinate quality checks and third party testing of material

Coordinate with key stakeholders to resolve customer complaints

  • Communicate full traceability and recommendations to contracts team at outcome of investigation
  • Visit customers to conduct on site investigation when appropriate
  • Request quality deviation evidence from customers for analysis against expected quality standards Analyse production records against customer complaints
  • Conduct Symptoms Causes Remedies Actions investigation (SCRA) where deviations have occurred

Educate and train the organisation's workforce to ensure that they understand and comply with the organisation's SQE policies and procedure

  • Analyse the training database to identify areas of action
  • Design, coordinate and deliver individual and group interventions
  • Design and display visuals
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of interventions on completion
  • Use evaluation data to apply continuous improvement to SQE interventions
  • Select, train and evaluate designated workplace safety or first aid officers to ensure that they understand and can perform the responsibilities of their role

Technical competencies
