This is a great opportunity for you to join the Commercial Sales Team as a Sales Operation Manager wherein you will be responsible for the growth of Shell Energy’s business within the B2B energy market.

The Sales Operations Manager role will support our business’ aim to be a leading provider of sustainable energy solutions, partnering with customers on their journey towards carbon neutrality and serving 5-10% of the UK business energy market by 2030.

What’s the role?

The Sales Operations Manager is a member of the Commercial Sales Team and reports to the Head of I&C Strategic Sales. The role is responsible for managing a team of Sales Operations staff supporting the Commercial Sales team in spearheading the I&C market.

The role is accountable for managing a team of 4-6 Sales Operations staff supporting sales in the tender journey through to pre-registration. you will ensure that they are inspired, motivated, trained and managed to support the commercial sales team succeed in spearheading its ambitious growth targets in the I&C Energy Market. The role will also include the management of other sales support activities, projects and report management requirements:

  • Be responsible for support in delivering commodity and added value product growth across the B2B I&C sales channels
  • Coach the Sales Ops team so that they reach and exceed their KPI targets whilst maintaining excellent quality
  • Pro-actively work with other colleagues in the sales functions and across the business to manage tender requirements, avoid and resolve key issues and implement key initiatives to drive efficiency and quality
  • Plan, set and manage KPI targets across the Sales Ops team ensuring they are agreed by the Head of I&C Strategic Sales and in line with company and departmental targets
  • Be responsible for sales quality framework and lead in the monitoring and auditing of compliance across the sales department
  • Get involved larger I&C tender opportunities to ensure that the quality of these tenders is managed and the highest level of service is provided particularly around more complex products/structures
  • Create and implement monthly, quarterly and annual sales support plans and ensure that these plans are agreed and communicated clearly to all relevant stakeholders.
  • Be actively involved in supporting relationship building with larger strategic partners where required. This may involve accompanying the Business Development Managers at partner meetings
  • Implement and produce regular MI reporting directly related to the Sales Ops team such as tender pipelines, tenders loaded/rejected, accuracy of loading and e-mail in box management
  • Prepare and produce other sales MI related to sales activity as requested by the sales management team, including special reports as directed
  • Undertake special projects as requested by the sales management team and lead in IT projects that require sales department interaction
  • Responsible for administrational management of partner and customer contracts, partner set up processes, acceptance process and management of sales query logging
  • Build and maintain excellent relationships internally and externally, working closely with colleagues ensuring current business performance is optimised, standards of customer service enhanced, and new opportunities fully exploited
  • Responsible for other adhoc admin activities related to sales growth as directed
  • Adopt a ‘no surprises’ approach to reporting and communication with Senior Managers and be prepared to challenge the norm in a constructive and proactive manner

This role will be home-based with occasional and irregular travel to the Milton Keynes office.

What we need from you

We are keen to hear from individuals with a proven track record of success within power & gas commodity market of leading Sales Operations teams supporting sales teams in spearheading the I&C market sectors. You’ll have experience of supporting complex solutions and flexible power & gas supply commodity contracts from mid-market up to large I&C businesses including the systems that support these products. You’ll also have strong excel skills and report management capabilities.

  • Excellent communicator at C-level, both written and verbal
  • Ability to develop strong professional relationships, both internally and externally, including ability to interact with brokers/partners and customers
  • Ability to managing complex competing priorities, projects and sales related processes
