We’re seeking a future team member for the role of SANCTIONS COMPLIANCE INVESTIGATOR to join our COMPLIANCE team. This role will be located in LONDON or EDINBURGH (Hybrid).

Job Purpose: The successful candidate is responsible for reviewing and providing expert guidance, including resolution of Level 2 (L2) escalated economic sanctions client and transaction alerts, including determining permissibility pursuant to Office of Foreign Asset Control (OFAC), Office of the Superintendent of Financial Institutions (OFSI) and European Union (EU) economic sanctions program restrictions. This role is focused on supporting EMEA businesses and legal entities.

In this role, you’ll make an impact in the following ways:

  • Review and action OFAC, OFSI and EU economic sanctions alert escalations
  • Complete write up of alert disposition rationale and/or request additional information and documentation pertinent to alert disposition
  • Collaborate with team members and internal business partners as needed on complex transaction alerts and fact patterns, sanctions restrictions and their application depending on jurisdictional touchpoints
  • Conduct Quality Control and Quality Assurance reviews to ensure compliance with sanctions regulatory requirements and internal procedures
  • Identify, document and escalate sanctions regulatory and/or internal control-related risk to internal governance committees
  • Support proactive initiatives to understand the extent of potential future sanctions exposure for BNY Mellon in the event of certain geopolitical events or scenarios
  • Otherwise support the maintenance and enhancement of the Global and/or EMEA Sanctions Compliance Programme, as required

To be successful in this role, we’re seeking the following:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher accreditation or equivalent work experience required
  • Strong knowledge of banking products/services and transactions, including SWIFT, payments, securities, trade finance
  • Strong analytical, critical thinking, verbal, and written communication skills
  • Significant sanctions experience, particularly in OFAC, OFSI and EU economic sanctions laws and regulations
