Scheduler Planner Location: MiddletonGBP25,000 Permanent Role

We are a leading recruitment agency currently partnering with a dynamic client based in Middleton. Our client is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Operations Planner to join their team. This is a pivotal role that involves coordinating operational delivery, ensuring optimal schedules for a designated group of Engineers to achieve the highest levels of customer service and productivity.

Job Purpose: To control and co-ordinate operational delivery, ensuring the schedule of work for a designated group of Engineers achieves the highest levels of customer service and engineer productivity. Involves both forward planning and reactive problem resolution on an ongoing basis, working closely with other departments to ensure the full business cycle from order to cash collection can be completed.

Key Accountability:

  1. Planning all works on a rolling weekly basis, liaising with both clients and Engineers.
  2. Providing exceptional customer service and building strong relationships with key contacts.
  3. Supporting Engineers in the field, ensuring they have the correct H&S training, job information, equipment, stationary, etc.
  4. Facilitating work being undertaken through raising Purchase Orders internally and preparing/issuing Risk Assessments, Method Statements, and Permits.
  5. Any other ad hoc tasks for the management team that help maintain service and the division's commercial/financial commitments.

Job Context / Key Challenges:

  • Critical role with a dual focus on customer service and maintaining profitable schedules.
  • Fast-paced environment with high demand for Fire services.
  • Works within an agreed framework and structure, using sales information, retained customer data, and knowledge of the customer/engineer/geography.

Role Dimensions:

  • Shares Planning responsibility with one other Planner (circa 26 Engineers in total).
  • Schedules circa 1 to 8 jobs a day for each Engineer dependent upon business area and customer need.
  • No formal line management responsibility.

Person Profile (Qualifications, Knowledge, Skill, and Experience):

  • Relevant and broad experience as a Planner, Scheduler, or Ops Co-Ordinator.
  • Relevant industry experience would be an advantage but not essential.
  • Exceptional people skills (strong communicator, service-oriented, supportive, and helpful to colleagues).
  • Calm, resilient, and flexible with experience in a fast-paced service environment.
  • Experienced user of e-mail and Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
  • Experience of operating at a hands-on level while simultaneously bringing about improvement in the role.

Organisation Structure (place in the organisation):

  • Reports to the Maintenance Manager or Contracts Manager, who is also the line manager for the Engineering population.
  • Works alongside other Labour Controllers, an Administrator, and 2/3 Qualified Supervisors.Cpprofessional
