School Attendance is an issue of national challenge and of significant local importance to the City of York.
We are looking for an outstanding candidate to lead the Local Authority response to School Attendance, responding to issues of Persistent and Severe Absence, and managing the statutory duties around those children and young people who are Electively Home Educated or Children Missing Education.
The successful candidate will work across over sixty maintained schools, academies and specialist settings in the city. They will liaise with key partners in Health, Social Care and Special Education Needs teams, and manage both proactive and reactive responses to emerging and embedded absence.
The role will involve direct case work, providing training and advice to school settings and leading and reporting on data analysis to ensure our work is focussed and effective in building School Attendance in our city, particularly for the most vulnerable families in our collective care.
Supported by the Attendance Enforcement and Data Officer, and supported by senior colleagues in the Inclusion Team, this is an opportunity to become a critical role within the City of York’s inclusion strategy, and a key voice in this important national agenda.
We look forward to receiving your application for this key appointment for our city.
