We are pleased to be representing our Partnership School in organising a School Cook to start from September 2024. Please read below for details.

The role:

The school is in situated within Penarth, Vale of Glamorgan. We look after day and residential pupils between the ages of 7 and 19.

As a Cook you'll be working in one of our four residential houses or School canteen, cooking lunch and preparing dinner for around 20 pupils and staff. You'll be expected to undertake ordering food on-line, keeping within set budgets, working within HACCP guidelines and following school procedures.

How you'll make a difference:

  • By providing healthy nutritious meals within a Special School helping feed residential pupils.
  • By maintaining high standards of cleanliness.
  • By following health and safety legislation and guidance.

What you'll need:

All our cooks are required to hold a Level 2 Food Hygiene Certificate. Although this is not essential when applying for the role, training will be provided and you would be expected to obtain this qualification soon after appointment.

Experience, although not necessary, is desirable.

Job Duties:

  • Prepare all food items as directed in a sanitary and timely manner
  • Follow recipes and presentation specifications
  • Operate standard kitchen equipment safely and efficiently
  • Maintain a clean working station whilst adhering to health & safety standards
  • Assist with the cleaning and organisation of kitchen and equipment
  • Restock items as needed throughout the shift
  • Adhere to all food hygiene & safety standards

Additional Duties:

  • Menu planning
  • Recording food temperatures
