Job description

School Minibus Driver

Location: Howell’s School, Llandaff

Required from: September 2024

Contract term: Permanent

Hours: 20 hours a week (potentially up to 25), split shift AM & PM – term time only

The Role:

We are looking for a hardworking and reliable Minibus Driver to join our exceptional driving team in Howell’s School. The role involves transporting students to and from school on one of our school bus routes, and on educational visits as required. The successful candidate will be an experienced driver with a friendly and reassuring manner with children and parents.

Skills & Experience required:

  • A valid Category D1 entitlement plus an acceptable driving record.
  • The ability to understand written and oral instructions
  • Able to carry out daily check of allotted minibus before use, including tyres, indicators, first aid kit, fire extinguisher, mirrors
  • Able to comply with all road safety and health and safety regulations; GDST Driving at Work policies; and specific risk assessments as required
  • The ability to maintain good customer relations with parents and the school and contributing to a good atmosphere on the bus.
  • Professional & approachable attitude
  • Self-motivated with a positive ‘can do’ approach to work
  • Reliable & punctual

A current MIDAS training certificate and suitable First Aid qualification are desirable, but training can be provided.

Howell’s School, Llandaff is one of the oldest girls’ school in Wales, having opened in August 1860. Since then, it has steadily expanded, both in terms of student numbers and physical size. The school now caters for girls from the age of 3 to 18 and boys from 16-18. Since 1980 it has been a member of the Girls’ Day School Trust, the largest organisation of independent schools in the UK.
